Using your private AI

Everything you need after setup: your phone, your documents, voice, models, and support access.

Getting started

Your AI computer needs power and a wired connection to your router. Leave it on. It's your assistant's home, and it only uses meaningful power while it's answering.

Keep it somewhere ventilated, like a closet shelf or under a desk. AI graphics cards make heat and some fan noise when they're working.

On your phone

  1. Open the private network app and make sure it's switched on (connected).
  2. Open your assistant's address in Safari or Chrome. We'll have saved it for you as My Private AI.
  3. Tap Share → Add to Home Screen so it opens like an app.

That's it. Wi-Fi or cellular, at home or away, it works anywhere your phone has signal.

Chatting & voice

Type like you'd text a person. Tap the 🎤 to talk instead; your speech is turned into text on your own computer. Start a New chat for a new topic; old chats are saved on your computer, not on your phone.

Your documents

Tap + to attach a PDF, Word document or text file to a chat, or add documents to a Knowledge collection to ask about them any time (“Manuals”, “House”, “Taxes 2025”).

Ask specific questions: “What does the warranty say about water damage?” works better than “summarize everything”. Answers show which document they came from.

Choosing a model

Your computer has more than one AI model installed. The default is chosen for your hardware. Smaller models answer faster; larger ones think harder. Switch at the top of any chat.

Support access

Your private network belongs to you. We can't connect unless you share your AI computer with us.

  1. To turn it on: on your management page, tap Turn support access on.
  2. To turn it off: tap Turn support access off. Access ends immediately.
Support access lets us maintain the computer. Your chats live in your own account in the assistant app, and we never ask for your login.

Updates

New and better open AI models come out often. With support access on, we can update yours on request. Otherwise the setup page offers a one-tap update.

Troubleshooting

ProblemTry this
Phone can't reach the assistantCheck the private network app is switched on in your phone. Check the AI computer is powered and its network light is on.
Answers are slowPick a smaller model at the top of the chat. Very long documents take longer the first time.
It says it doesn't know something from my documentMake sure the document is attached to that chat or in a Knowledge collection, then ask more specifically.
Power outageNothing to do. It starts back up by itself.

FAQ

Does it need the internet?

Only so your phone can reach it when you're away from home. The AI itself works offline.

Can my family use it too?

Yes. Each person gets their own login, and their chats are kept separate.

Does it learn from my chats?

The model doesn't train on your conversations. It reads the documents you give it when answering, and that all stays on your computer.

What happens if I stop using Delany?

Nothing changes. Everything we install is free, open-source software that runs on your computer and belongs to you.
